Setting targets for your agents to reach, like a certain number of chats or a particular response time, is a good idea. My only wish is that they have more patience when I had called in the past.

For that, I suggest checking out Hostwinds, the category's Editors' Choice. Summary Before considering Media Temple, you must really do your homework. Along with key review factors, this compensation may impact how and where hosts appear on the page including, for example, the order in which they appear. Bluehost has long been a favorite of mine in the shared and WordPress hosting spaces.

Media Temple Review Media Temple is a web host that provides hosting for sites at all stages of development. As a result, it is great for beginning and intermediate website owners who plan to grow. It has plans for you now and it has plans for you in the future. If that describes you, Media Temple is well worth checking out. Some History For You Media Temple was founded in 1998 in Los Angeles, California. To this day, the company maintains its offices in Los Angeles. Over its two decades of providing web hosting services, Media Temple has gained more than 125,000 customers based in over 100 countries and serves over 1. Media Temple's clients range from creative professionals and other subject matter experts SMEs to major, well-known brands like CBS, Samsung, Starbucks, Adidas, and Toyota. GoDaddy Acquisition offers a wide array of hosting plans. In October 2013, Media Temple announced its acquisition by. The company stated that GoDaddy's brand relaunch, overseen by then-CEO Blake Irving, was instrumental in its decision to make and complete the deal. However, Media Temple insisted that it would operate independently of GoDaddy. Demian Sellfors and John Carey originally set up Media Temple, but both partners stepped down prior to the GoDaddy acquisition. Russell Reeder took over as President between 2012 and 2015. The current President is Rod Stoddard. Media Temple Hosting Plans Media Temple has a very broad spread of -based web hosting on offer, from website builders to enterprise solutions. What follows is a brief summary of its consumer-grade plans, but you can find more information about its more advanced services on its website. Website Builder Hosting Media Temple partners with Virb, a provider of site builder services, for its site builder hosting packages. Virb has been a part of the Media Temple catalog since 2012 and competes with branded builders like and. With Virb, you can build an unlimited number of pages, host your site on the cloud, link custom domains, and build on top of a number of professionally-designed, mobile-friendly themes. Grid Shared Hosting Grid Hosting with Media Temple. Customers that need more flexibility can opt for Media Temple's , which it refers to as Grid Hosting. Currently, there are three different Grid Hosting plans from which you can choose. The packages vary in the number of sites you can build, the storage and database allocations, and the maximum bandwidth allocated to your account. Premium offerings come with extras like and security tools for a select number of your sites. You don't get or with these plans, but you do have access to an control panel that was custom built in-house by Media Temple engineers. Managed WordPress Hosting Media Temple is one of many well-known hosts to have sprouted specialized WordPress plans from shared hosting. Media Temple's WordPress offerings are managed, which means that the company tackles a fair amount of the maintenance required to keep your site running smoothly. Why Else Is Managed Hosting Worth It? Bonuses on more advanced plans include malware protection, G Suite logins, and SSL certificates. Again, the is a Media Temple-designed product. Free Hosting Sounds too good to be true, right? It certainly exists, although diving into a free hosting plan and committing countless hours of work may be a trap as a newbie. Similarly to many other hosts, Media Temple occasionally offers free hosting trials for new customers. As attractive as this is, consider this commitment as a paid venture. When Is It Not? While I'd urge you to be cautious if Media Temple seems like a host you'd likely be happy to work with on paid terms, go for it. In that case, you're looking at saving a substantial amount of money in hosting costs. On the other hand, if you're trying to grab a freebie without any prior research, look elsewhere - free hosting offers are not for you. Advanced Hosting Options Media Temple offers a variety of hosting options for those who have outgrown entry-level options. Before we dive in any deeper, let's compare the three contenders side-by-side: VPS Hosting Dedicated Server Cloud Hosting Speed Fast Very Fast Fast Resources Shared Private Shared Security Moderately Secure Very Secure Low Security Pricing Moderate Expensive Cheap VPS Hosting If you opt for Media Temple's VPS hosting, you can choose between managed and unmanaged options. The self-managed is designed for advanced users comfortable with Linux and the command line. You get a choice of operating system , , or , full root access, and the ability to scale instantaneously if necessary. The managed hosting options is control panel hosting designed for intermediate or advanced users -- you have to be comfortable with using a GUI-based control panel, but you are not relegated to command-line-only access. Other benefits include performance and security scanning by Media Temple, as well as automatic backups. For those who want the power of VPS hosting but are not interested in the system administration required, Media Temple offers a fully-managed VPS plan where they manage everything on behalf of the customer. This is a great alternative for companies that would ordinarily employ someone to look after their servers. Dedicated Servers For those who need the best in speed, power, and space, Media Temple's are for you. You would get the entire box server to yourself. Like most of Media Temple's offerings, you can choose from a dizzying array of customization and management options. You can opt for a bare metal server essentially, Media Temple provides you with the physical infrastructure and nothing else to a fully-managed plan complete with white-glove service. Performance, Storage, and Uptime Regardless of what option s you choose, all dedicated servers come with 128 GB of RAM, 1 TB of SSD storage, and a 99. All dedicated server plans include 10 TB monthly bandwidth allowance, 1 TB SSD storage, and a selection of pre-installed software. If you want additional software installed, you can do it yourself or have one of Media Temple's CloudTech engineers do it on your behalf. Cloud Hosting If you are interested in , Media Temple offers options plans where your site is hosted using Amazon Web Services' infrastructure. These options are fully managed and designed and optimized for your website. You will receive, at every point of the project, assistance from the Media Temple team in getting your site up and running. Media Temple claims that you get from start to product within two weeks and that they will respond to critical failures on your site within fifteen minutes. Media Temple Infrastructure VPS hosting offers an excellent 99. This includes certain VPS plans but not all of them , as well as the company's dedicated hosting plans. Uptime Guarantees If downtime lasts longer than 20 minutes, you can request a 20% credit on your monthly fee for every subsequent 20 minutes of downtime, up to a maximum of 100% of your bill. Media Temple needs to verify the downtime, and you'll need to put in a manual claim within 5 days to be eligible. Location and Hours of Operation Other products do not have an uptime guarantee attached. Media Temple says that its Grid infrastructure makes outages less common than they may otherwise be. Remember: Media Temple is based on the west coast of the United States, so its off-peak hours may not be the same as your own. Media Temple Customer Support Media Temple's live chat in action. You can get help via live chat, Twitter, ticket, or phone. Only one US phone number is provided; there are no local numbers for other countries. The company also has an active community forum for self-help. In addition, it offers a premium support package called CloudTech, which you can purchase one-off support assistance or pay for assistance by subscription. This is only for hosting, and excludes additional products, like domain names and service add-ons. If you cancel a 12-month plan before the end of your contract, you may be granted a pro-rated refund. However, it provides 2 months' free service when you sign up for 12 months, so if you cancel part-way through the year, that discount disappears, and your refund is calculated accordingly. Frequently Asked Questions As always, there are details which may remain unclarified for you. Have a read of some of the most commonly asked questions below. Other Hosts To Consider So, since you got this far down the page, I take it you are slowly becoming a Media Temple fan. Here are a couple of hosting providers which may also be of interest. WP Engine is a reliable hosting provider. If you have a WordPress site that sees sizable levels of traffic, you cannot go wrong with , a provider of managed services. The company is known for its technical expertise in the WordPress ecosystem and its top-notch customer service. SiteGround is equally as impressive. However, this means that SiteGround's options are likely to be cheaper. Pros and Cons Now that we've covered at a high level , everything you might want to know about Media Temple, here is a quick rundown of the pros and cons of Media Temple. It offers hosting for practically any purpose, with impressive features on its cheapest plans. An uptime guarantee for shared and hosting would probably give newcomers some reassurance, and the money-back clauses are slightly more complex than they need to be. However, as a brand, Media Temple has long been known for quality, and the comprehensive support options will give most users the backing they need to get their site off the ground. Edited by Marko Csokasi. I have been using Mediatemple for a few years. It is an exceptional hosting service, the best I have ever used. I host a number of websites on the business grade DV service. DV is scalable, meaning resources can be increased as required. So as your sites grow and gain momentum, your existing server can easy be upgraded to handle it. It uses Plesk software which is great for server management and has benefits like easy Wordpress installation and customer accounts. The only thing I can think of that would improve the service is better tools for handling domain names, but that is a minor gripe when balance against the benefits. Of all the hosting platforms I have tried over the last decade, MT is by far the best I've been using MediaTemple's gs package for an year and I consider it to be one of the best clustered hosting products around. MediaTemple is the best host I've used till now. You don't need to be a tech-geek to use their service. They have a slick-end admin panel everything is easily accessible. Their KB has most of the answers to your questions. It's worth the money you spend. The only problems I've had was with uptime. It was sorted out quickly and I'm really comfortable with MediaTemple. I'd recommend their service to anyone who's serious about actually wanting a serious hosting with excellent support. I run few high traffic websites and initially they were hosted at Media Temple starting out the things was easy and good to as I don't need to bother much just buy any of the suitable plan and start hosting the website don't need to contact them for creating DNS record and all as I was having dedicated server where many web host need to contact their support for creating DNS record whenever you are going to host a new domain to your dedicated server this is really frustrating so you don't need to bother about this with Media Temple. They provide us with a control panel where one can host unlimited domain access to their cPanel or Plesk whichever you would have opted and manage services, finance and support ticket as well. Their knowledge base is awesome most of the issues you can resolve on your own just stumble one to the knowledge base and most probably you would find a solution. Support I think that's the best part of Media Temple they provide support through support tickets but if you are having some general issues you can just tweet to them and they will be generous enough to help you out if they don't need any special permission from you. Why I moved from them was downtime I think they promise to provide 99% uptime but I didn't got that its not due to them but it was me my sites started getting large amount of traffic and I need to upgrade my servers for that I need to pay and their plans are bit highly priced so I moved. I would suggest if your startup is backed with so VCs or you have enough funds to spend on hosting and need a very well web host then you must got with Media Temple. I've been a major supporter of MediaTemple for over 10 years. If I wrote this review any time other than the last two years my rating would have been 5's across the board. Regretfully their speed, support and most of all uptime has suffered greatly since 2016. It's gotten to the point to where I can no longer trust their services for any sort of job. The best I can tell is they've been treading water since GoDaddy purchased them and haven't improved or even maintained their infrastructure and that is starting to show. If you run Magento or even Wordpress there you are looking at slow load times the worst of it coming right up front and the initial connection can take over 2 seconds. DV offers up a little better speed if you stick to a single simple site or two but for + it's an expensive way to run a slow website. Their downtimes have been often and lengthy since 2017. Since January of this year several clients of mine have experienced 48 hour plus outages. I understand things happen but the lack of any sort of timeframe during the outages makes it difficult to update clients. If the speed and downtime aren't enough to point you towards a better host the support is also lacking. The best method being 30 minute plus hold times for simple sales or technical support calls. Add to that their status page that never seems to show all of their outages they are a very frustrating 3rd party to work with. Long story short avoid MediaTemple at all costs. Your money and time is best spent elsewhere. I used Media temple as a host for several years and had few problems. They would occasionally change features and eliminate useful tools without notifying me, but it never harmed by low traffic website. The problem happened when I changed my credit card and forgot to update the details on Mediatemple. My payment was overdue by one month and Mediatemple deleted my website and years of emails without enough notice They sent an email around the holidays, to tell me the payment did not go through, but I overlooked it. They refused to help me retrieve years of important emails, even though I know they have them. They never tried to call me and should have given more notifications to a long-time, loyal customer. I notice that MediaTemple has big clients like Adobe and Samsung but I doubt they would treat those companies similarly. Several months later they sent an email trying to charge me to re-register my domain name with them even though I had already begun using another host. Stay far away from media temple, they don't care about the everyday user or our website. I couldn't have had a worse experience with Media Temple. They are super expensive, so I thought I would get a top notch service. That simply isn't the case. There support is terrible, the service is very limited for the , and they seem to intentionally mislead you so that you continue to pay for their services without being notified, even after you think the account is closed. I could not recommend you use Media Temple. They are expensive, dangerous and unhelpful. There is a plethora of much better quality web hosting companies out there that are also cheaper. Don't risk using them! Media Temple MT used to be the very best shared hosting provider around. They offer SSH access, have Git installed by default, have an excellent control panel, they have great DNS controls, and they do annual billing. To ensure I wasn't overloading servers, I set up each client on their own instance, and between 2009 and about 2014, everything was excellent. Some of the sites hosted on MT had huge traffic, and the service took it without breaking a beat. This all changed around the time GoDaddy bought MT. Almost overnight, sites that were running fine would be slowing to a crawl on occasion. Sites would frequently fail to load for 1-2 hours at a time, and when asked what happened MT would give only hand-waving answers. Our team spent hours on the phone trying to figure out what was so suspicious about our brand new, fairly modest site. About 4 hours later the site was back, but MT support refused to comment on what had happened and couldn't offer anything by way of reimbursement. If you want reliable service and helpful support, look elsewhere. I'm using the Media Temple Grid service to host several domains - so the review is only about the Grid offering. Media Temple has also other hosting products which might be more reliable. We can't access our website at least once or twice a month, and the breakages can be anything up to 15 minutes. Sometimes the server responds, but extremely slowly. It might take 10 seconds just to get the first bit. We are simply losing business when we're turning customers away with a nice 505. However, this page never reflects the actual status of the service. All Media Temple sites - including their own MediaTemple. Since last September we have submitted perhaps 8 tickets, and received one answer. Based on my experience, I couldn't recommend. We keep on using the Grid service because we host so many domains through this service that we just can't find the time to migrate to another hosting provider. I have been a mediatemple customer since 2001 or 2002. Inititally I got a special deal for their ss offering - their shared hosting, it was only costing me per month to host my very small personal site. The support was phenomenal, granted it was a US phone number, but they always helped really quickly and professionally. The site always loaded fast, was always up etc etc - I was a delighted customer! Around 2005 mediatemple brought out their gs grid server. Still not a huge amount of money monthly but the quality just tanked. Here I was paying 5 times as much for something that had not even a twentieth of the quality. My site started to take an age to load, there were outages of sometimes hours, support weren't interested. If it were still possible to get the ss hosting from mediatemple I might still be able to endorse them - but the only thing I can say about their gs hosting is Run away. To give an impression of how useless the support has become, I called them as I wasn't able to update my nameservers - they took over an hour to update the nameservers keeping me on hold all the time. Media Temple has THE worse service people. I have been continually frustrated by their extremely!! If i had not paid for a year in advance i would have been gone before this. As an agency, we secure a lot of domains and hosting for our company and for our client's programs. We're a long time Media Temple customer. However, about 2 years ago, we stopped securing new domains and hosting with Media Temple. That's because a few years back we started using GoDaddy more frequently to save money on smaller projects. GoDaddy's domain names and hosting is less expensive than Media Temple's and GoDaddy offers better service and support. GoDaddy's account system and interfaces and superior customer service has made us want to give them more and more of our business. Now we give all of our new business to GoDaddy and have only our older ongoing hosting and domain needs with Media Temple. Every time we have to deal with Media Temple re: a weird auto-renewal message or to cancel something -- every interaction involves some sort of problem. Their account system and interface is not user friendly or intuitive. I cringe any time I have to handle anything related to Media Temple. I can't blame Customer Service reps because they can only do what their systems and processes allow. I just wish it were easier to move everything away from them. The Media Temple Grid has been slowing to a crawl at random times of the day for 10-15 minutes at a time throughout the day for the past 3 weeks, this included All of my client's sites that are being hosted there, I have been with me for 20 years, it might be about time for me to find hosting elsewhere. After being frustrated with a cheap, local host I took the plunge after seeing a lot of positivity towards mt from Twitter and Facebook. Taking advantage of an offer for half hosting, I paid for the year up front and I'd have gladly paid the full price and more. Setting up was easy, and all along the process, mt were always on hand to give me help or advice as and when I needed it. Even beyond their duty as a service provider, mt are also charitable and helpful people outside of their work and would highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for a reliable web host. Thirst Software has been an mt customer for less than a month, but the excellent customer service and great control of our website, databases, and email have won us over. The transition from our old hosting service to mt was as painless as could be expected. We have nothing but positive things to say about mt. I have two Media Temple accounts - a grid service and a dedicated virtual server. Although I have experienced one short outage on the grid service, I feel like most of the speed issues and reliability problems I've read about are mostly a thing of the past. I've probably used a dozen different hosts over the years to run about 100 sites and every host has their hiccups every now and then. The dedicated virtual server account I have has been rock solid... I have clients that are wanting to move to my DV service after I show them how much faster it runs compared to the cheap shared hosting they are used to. What I mainly like about Media Temple is their customer service. I don't wait long on the phone to speak with someone, and they always stay online with me until my questions are resolved. I can't say the same about any other host. Either you are forwarded to another country and have communication issues with the customer service rep, or they try to get you off the phone and just tell you to call back later if the problem doesn't resolve. I've never been treated that way at Media Temple... I always feel that my issues are important and they want to take care of me. MediaTemple used to be wonderful - they have an excellent administrative interface, once had really stellar support, have a great knowledge base, everything looks really shiny on their website... Unfortunately, in the past 7 or 8 months they have really dropped the ball. They've got too many sites per Grid Service and it's causing all of the sites on that cluster to perform really slowly. If you buy an additional MySQL Grid Container, you'll see marked improvement in performance... I have two of my own hosting plans with MT and many of my clients are with them. I won't be able to recommend them ever again since they have taken this long to correct the latency issues, I imagine it won't ever get corrected. MediaTemple consistently excel in all areas. Their pre-sales teams are more than happy to help in every area, giving details to the best of their attainable knowledge. They do not pressure you and do not chase you after 6 months of no contact, because they want some more accounts like other hosters.... The checkout process is simple and easy. It is one of the nicest ways I have ever spent my money before. Once you have been approved and such, you are presented with their bespoke account centre which offers so much flexibility it's unreal. Take for instance, their DNS panel; it allows you to actually specify records that other panels balk at but are perfectly valid. It's meant for everyone. This is just one of their many great features. Support wise it's completely different from many other companies. They should all follow MediaTemple. They are on Twitter, Facebook, have webchats, will phone you up, it's just outstanding. They do everything they possibly can even relating to other services such as Azure. I would happily buy from MediaTemple again and again, even shares if they ever floated... Media Temple rocks because just about everything them does. Their service offerings are wide enough to offer enough variety but not so wide that you are immediately bewildered by the choice. Their account panel is fantastic, it makes several things incredibly easy. Their staff are so helpful without being in your face. They're friendly and helpful in every respect no matter how they're spoken to. The services have amazing up time and scream reliability. Media Temple is the most amazing host I've ever used. You don't need to be a tech expert to use them, because they're staffed full of them. Value for money is amazing, and their attention to detail is brilliant. In my year of using them, I've only had a few problems, and these were handled properly and easily over the phone, leaving me feeling really satisfied. I'd recommend Media Temple to anyone serious about wanting actually decent hosting. I have about 25 sites running on single Grid Server account with Media Temple. Although I didn't experience on very short service down time once this year, I have become a huge fan of Media Temple due to their amazing customer service and slick back-end admin area. They saved my bacon once after I accidentally deleted an important database what was I thinking? They not only recovered a complete database back-up for me, they walked me through the process of reinstalling the database and correcting all of my mistakes. They bent over backwards to take care of my issues each and every time I call in with a question. Their support is the pits. It takes them forever to respond and if you do not respond back to them in a timely fashion, they mark the incident as resolved and close it. I have had an ongoing problem for over a year of their web-mail interface not being compatible with IE. I have tried all three options and non of them work! Because I am behind a corporate firewall, web-mail is my only option but they do not seem interested in solving the problem. Their solution was for me to switch to Thunderbird. This option works except the corporate firewall will not allow me to send outgoing email. I would not have a problem if the support team would make a serious attempt at solving the problem of the long running java script. I have tried twice to transfer my domain registration to them, both times they have marked the ticket as resolved and closed even though they did not transfer my domain. I have heard great things about MT and switched over from another well know hosting provider. I started to configure my database for my small application and could not create a simple View in my database. I contacted support and they said that feature was unavailable in a hosting environment. Are you kidding me? You have disable basic database features? That something breaks is for every IT or Webhoster normal. But the guys at mediatemple rock so much, that even if you not have seen the issue yet, they already giving out updates. I started with a smaller gs and was already blazed by the service. Since I have moved to a dv , which is a bit to big for me, but still an awesome place to play with a server in america, i'm not facing any issues. Even the Team for the dv got in contact with me while i was testing something and they helped me to fix any issues within 3 hours. Including contacting 3rd party. If you need something reliable and if there should be an issue, get Media Temple because even an issue is not an issue for them. I was working on a site for a client, but they gave me no access to their hosting wordpress only. Updating a plugin caused the Admin section to fail. When I called support to restore a backup they said I needed to be an admin. The client speng 20 minutes on the phone adding me bless them. I then logged into the control panel and amended the support ticket. Support asked which backup I wanted to restore. Support then directed me to a form to fill out. To restore the backup they wanted to charge?! What is this, 2003? That's a whole lotta nope. I'll be moving my client to a more reputable hosting company. You will get no support... Email support is a 9Hour wait... I have been with them 6 years and I am leaving because as savvy as I am as a web developer, I can't go 9 hours without figuring out an issue when hosting 11 sites on my server!!! I used gs mt for 4-5 years. If you need linux you can prefer mt. I hope, they will give windows hosting option too. I can't access my sites only two times! One of them is 4-5 hours : other is more less. Panel is very useful. If you need mysql management in detail, you need buy someting bla bla. I always wanted to have MediaTemple when I first started working online when I was 16. I fell in love with MediaTemple years ago. It's great that designers endorsed them and their control panels and customer service real humans that are informed are excellent. However, I have fallen far out of love with them lately. They have far too frequent maintenance weekly and there was a time a few months back that email was down for 30hrs - but I stuck with them. Well, this week the big one hit. And as you'll find if you go on Twitter or anywhere and search for Media Temple right now, 15,000+ websites went down with them. It wasn't just their grid server either, their virtual dedicated servers crashed too. My clients, and I, are furious. One of the sites that is down is for a film that my clients worked on for 3 years. It premiered in Scotland the day before the crash and is still down. For them, that's quite tragic. I am currently actively seeking a host that delivers what mt promised. If any of you have any suggestions please by all means contact me. Have been a customer of their Grid gs product for quite a few years. They are not the cheapest, by a long shot and, although I don't believe that is all important, to be spending as much as I do with them, I expect a far better service than this. Would recommend that people run a mile! Diabolical technical support, avoid at all costs. Media Temple messed up my domain transfer into them, eventually admitting it was due to a known problem with a registrar they use. Despite dozens of calls and assurances my domain was finally transferred, they persist in restarting the domain transfer process. I am now unable to move my domain elsewhere, as they reset the 60 day transfer window. There is no continuity of support, no person assigned to follow your issues to resolution. The person you talk to offers generic advice unable to look at the history of problems and emails to support result in generic replies. They are incapable of listening to an ongoing technical issue and replying to it in person. And it takes up to 3 days for a reply from technical support. Worst technical support from a supposedly 'world class' company. I am left with no working domain and no way to resolve it. I feel as if I could get my money's worth elsewhere; they sell VPS hosting but the speed and configuration cannot be toggled if you honestly don't know what you're doing. Grid hosting, I feel, is overpriced -- especially since you can purchased a Managed Linux VPS for only more a month. The support team is superb, however. They help with basically anything except for third-party software and files. Media Temple has excellent support. Quick turn around they answer within 24 hours. They are very efficient with their admin. However Media Temple is a web hosting company that is affiliated with Verb, is a website service where you build your own free website and only pay a ten dollar hosting fee to Virb. Satisfied with hosting, but I feel they are a little too advanced for a novice. My only wish is that they have more patience when I had called in the past. Again I am a novice, I feel that they expect you to do everything yourself. The last person I spoke with was nice and assisted into a smooth transition with my Virb website domain. Worst Hosting Company I've ever seen. I have heard great things about MT and sw itched over from another well know hosting provider. Don't use MT is service and support is at all important to you. We are using both Mediatemple Grid Service as well as Dedicated Virtual Server for the past 3 years. We have faced worst service and security measures given by them in 4 months. We have 95 clients in Grid Server alone and their sites have been hacked for 5 times till now. When we have asked about this to mediatemple, they say, it is not their responsibility and the files they are showing as malicious files are designed by us and upload 10 minutes before they blocked our server. When we asked to help to resolve it, they are asking to pay and that too not guaranteed. In Dedicated Virtual Server when we ask for any help to recover or retrieve they say, they won't support and asks us to read their policy carefully. Thank you, Vivekanandan My Web developing team chose Media Temple. At first everything was fine then I started catching my site down every few days. Then this became more frequent, it got to the point that my site was down once very couple of hours for 2-10 minutes at a time. The support team said that we needed to pay more money and have more space. This is what we did and the problem continued to happen. Finally we cancelled our subscription and moved to Herculo which has been perfect and cheaper so far of 2 months. After our cancellation with Media Temple they continued to charge us. After multiple calls explaining to Media Temple that we cancelled our subscription and haven't been using their services for over a month they would not refund our money and basically gave us the billing department run around. It was a nightmare of an experience. All I look for is good honest service and I am happy to pay for it. Do yourself a favor go with a company with good customer service and a great reputation on performance. We started with them back in 2011, and it's been nothing but smooth sailing since. They offer support through a wide variety of channels, Twitter being one of their quickest and easiest. I get my questions answered quickly, thoroughly, and have had about 90% of my issues resolved within the first few hours, if not immediately. Aside from their terrific support, they also provide a great product. We were hit hard this summer for Euro Cup 2012, and our service didn't even blink. Aside from a few incidents with downtime, that have usually been fixed within the first 10 minutes, I couldn't be happier. You really do get what you pay for. I have been using Media Temple for some time now. Although they have some great features that have been extremely helpful, I have also found that they can be very unreliable in some circumstances. I recently purchased several premium domains, where buying them was time sensitive. Only half of them went through, but I was charged for all of them. When I checked on my account, it showed that I had them. Unfortunately, when I tried to access them, I noticed that some of them had actually been purchased by someone else! When I called, they made up an excuse and said they had already been purchased and they were being processed. This whole ordeal me thousands of dollars! They said there was nothing they could do for me and they would refund me my money. I've been a week now with Cloud after being 3 miserable years with Mediatemple, and the speed is Un-be-li-veable! All the 3 years spent on the Dv 'extreme' version at Mediatemple so supposedly the top of their virtual servers... I had thousands of downtime, slow processing, solr issues etc. I have lost tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on loss of business + of maintenance with my developers trying to find out what was wrong with our scripts or with our CMS etc. Of course support Mediatemple always said it was our scripts and never the server. But now that we are with a new host, we find out that there was no problem. One simple advise: Don't go with mediatemple if you want to sleep at night... I recently left Media Temple. Read below, though, to find out why I left. Almost from the start, I ran into service issues with Media Temple. The host was, at times, unbearably slow. During the four months that I was with them, I learned that a lot of the problems stemmed from a bad cluster number 7 at Media Temple. While it was nice to know what the problem was, it most certainly didn't make me feel any better, since my members were being impacted almost on a daily basis. There was, in fact, one week in which we suffered an outage from as little as five minutes to as much as 30 minutes every day. That was my breaking point. As a temporary solution to my problems while I was searching for a new host , I opted for a more expensive service at Media Temple. I bought their Grid Container Lite a month. It's a dedicated environment that should, in theory, provide for a more consistent experience. While it was better than the grid service, it, too, was plagued with technical issues. What's more, we still suffered from slowdowns -- even if we were not getting outages. Slowdowns stink because it often results in database errors. We've all experienced those: double posts, time-stamp errors, etc. By early December, I realized that Media Temple was not the company for me. Over the next month or so all of December , I complained incessantly to my admin about the crappy Media Temple performance. My admin, who likely felt guilty for recommending Media Temple in the first place but shouldn't have , understood my plight. We both agreed that it was time to find a new host. I signed up with a new host in early January -- thought we didn't fully migrate until mid February. In sum, I would avoid Media Temple. Their service is subpar. I've been with Media Temple for two or three years now. I was on the dreaded number 2 cluster that seemed to have multiple issues. Then, in the last year or so, I started having a lot of malware issues with my sites. I stayed vigilant on updating WP, changing passwords, etc. Media Temple support for the longest time denied that the issue had anything to do with their hosting but multiple reports of their clusters being hacked poured in. I had to sign up with a third party security company to keep my sites clean because MT support refused to do anything about it until they started getting hell on Twitter and Facebook about it. It would seem that Rack Space is also a big target for these hackers. You would think that MT would do something to stop the hackers but so far I am getting hacked into at least twice a month. The icing on the cake was my site was a victim of a Ddos attack and MT was forced to take my site down for a few days then they charged me for the increased bandwidth. I would stay with them if they would fix their problems but it seems as though they are not capable of doing so. I'm now looking for a smaller web host whose servers won't be such a large target for the a holes that do this crap. The main server we use went down this summer and as a result some sites were offline for nearly 10 days. Media Temple lost databases that should have been backed up in the crash. Overall their hosting performance and uptime is good. Customer support however can be slow if your not on US time zone and 30min+ queues on the phone do happen. Overall they are OK, but there is room for improvement. The worst WP hosting I have ever tried! Once I signed up for their WP hosting, I was shocked to see how slow it is! A single page without any post or image took over 30 seconds to load. To make sure the problem was not related with my connection, I used Pingdom speed test and saw my website was slower than 97% of all websites tested there. If you plan to use the WP host from them...... I'll host my website somewhere else and won't ever look back to this hosting.... In terms of support, they took over 10 minutes to get back to me on a chat, and once I told them I wanted to cancel the service, they sent me to the back of the line once again where I waited 20 minutes to cancel the hosting and get a refund. Total waste of time, and a WP service so bad I can only call it a bad joke. I was a customer for almost 10 years. Put up with it and their over priced service because it was just simpler to stay then to start over somewhere else. The service was slow and several calls with them made it clear that the call was rushed and didn't feel helpful. I finally decided to switch to another host, for a much lower. I downloaded most of my files off the MT server before my service expired. Two days after expiry, I noticed I was missing a few files and could not longer log into MT's server. I called and asked at the options to get back in. My option was to buy one more full year of hosting for!! That would be the only option to let me get my files. I fought them on it and then they agreed, they can change my account to monthly only, and for I can get my files. I got a manager involved who was cold, rude and unfriendly. It was an unbelievable experience. Almost 10 years as a customer and absolutely no flexibility on this. Basically holding my files hostage! I won't be paying the! And all my files were thankfully backed up anyway. I would Never deal with this company again and highly recommend staying away from them! This host does offer an unlimited bandwidth and disk space with its premium package, which would cover running an image intensive site such as a gallery. Providing you are not offering file downloads, it's unlikely that Media Temple would object to an image-heavy site. On VPS and dedicated servers, you can install WordPress, Joomla! This feature is available regardless of the control panel you choose. On Grid Hosting, MediaTemple offers 20 one-click scripts in its Managed App Catalog.

Media Temple headquarters are in Culver City, California. The prime-managed is designed for advanced users comfortable with Linux and the command line. Interested in what makes Media Temple's Grid so exceptional. After running the company successfully for many years, it was eventually acquired by GoDaddy in 2013. On offer are dedicated and VPS packages of both the Gusto and Windows variety, as well as shared hosting, which is limited to Linux. Pros and Cons Now that we've covered at a high leveleverything you might want to know about Media Temple, here is a quick rundown of the pros and cons of Media Tout. There are two ways you can approach recruitment: hire and train an agent, or outsource your support. I've been with Media Temple for two or three years now.
